Our Insurance Restoration Process

If your home is damaged during a storm, your priority will likely be your family’s safety and shelter. Once the storm clears, however, you’ll need to focus on getting the insurance paperwork organized. Fortunately, professionals like Colonial Remodeling have your back. As your local roofing and home remodeling expert, we provide an overview of our insurance restoration process below.

Initial Inspection

A Colonial Remodeling field supervisor will come to your home as soon as possible and conduct a thorough inspection. It is important to determine the extent of damage and have it documented at this early stage, as volunteers and the fire department may already be conducting cleaning operations by this time. Our field supervisor will inform you of the extent of the damage, along with the cost. At this stage, you will be advised to initiate a claim with your insurance company.

Working With the Insurance Company

Our field supervisor will then get in touch with the insurance adjuster assigned to your claim and will provide a detailed report of the damage. We will note the roofing repairs that will be needed, along with any gutter or hail damage repair – and give the insurance adjuster an accurate estimate of the projected repair costs. The insurance adjuster may disagree with the estimate; in such cases, we can assist you in requesting a second inspection from a different adjuster to try to get you the payout you deserve. We keep our clients in the loop during every step of this process.

After the Claim Is Approved

Once the insurance claim is approved, the insurance company will issue a check for at least 50% of the total cost. While waiting for the check to be issued, our field supervisor will work with you to finalize options like material and color, as well as the repair and installation date. Our installation team will then be assigned and introduced to you on installation day.

After completion, you and our field supervisor will go over the inspection checklist to ensure that everything is completed. We will then invoice your insurance company with the remaining 50% (minus deductibles). During this time, we will also conduct a final quality inspection and ensure you are fully satisfied with the results.
