Storm Damage Restoration: How Our Process Works

Restoring your storm-damaged home will inevitably cause some disruption to your life. Fortunately, you can reduce the stress involved in this process by managing your expectations. Read on as Colonial Remodeling explains how our storm-damage restoration process works:

Initial Inspection

We’ll send our Field Supervisor to assess the extent of destruction and determine the degree of wind or hail damage repair your home needs. Our representative will review your home insurance policy with you to double-check whether you’re entitled to receive payment for the affected areas.

Insurance Claim Application

After verifying that you have a strong case for a claim, you should then notify your insurance company. Your insurer will give you an insurance claim number and assign an insurance adjuster to investigate your request.

We’ll meet with your insurance adjuster to go over our assessment. If the other party agrees with our recommendations, we can begin your home remodeling project immediately. If your insurance company rejects your claim, we can request that another adjuster to re-do the inspection. If your insurer wants to pay less money than what you deserve or continues to deny your claim, an independent arbitrator will then intervene to determine whether your insurance company should honor your claim or not.

Actual Restoration

Upon receiving the go signal from your insurance company, we’ll begin laying the groundwork for your storm damage restoration project. We’ll order the materials and schedule the construction at a time most convenient to you.

Generally, your insurance will write a check for at least half of the project’s total cost. You should get the remainder when the storm damage repair is completed. We’ll only collect the check when you’re fully satisfied with our workmanship.

Long-Term Maintenance

Restoration goes hand-in-hand with prevention. We recommend creating a preventive maintenance program to identify and address problems early and stay ahead of leaks. As a responsible homeowner, adopting a proactive maintenance approach is vital to your home’s health.
